[Concept 1] Interpreting the Topography of the Site and Reversing the Form to become Programme above and Urban Space below
Sketches and Models
[Concept 2] Developing this concept further I investigated fragmenting the Programme above into seperate areas creating alley ways of urban space. These Fragmentations can be organised according to the Suns movement utilising its light for certain parts of the programme and protecting it from the Suns natural light in others. They can also be organised to utilise the Sun for a passive heat or cooling system where necessary.
[Concept 3] Having explored a few potential options in thinking about the approach to resolving the design brief and also adding my own interpretation of the urbanity I decided to explore some of my initial personal responses to the site. This Concept explores the celebration of linking 3 diverse forms of architecture, 2 of which are similar surrounding the immediate site. BDP's new brutalist approach to the Bus Station, the brutalist approach of the Guild Hall and the Neo Classical style of the buildings that bleed from the City centre towards the site are of significant note. This concept explores an interpretation of the rise and fall of the architectural style and translated into a 3D Form, each rise begins oriented towards one style and offers views of another.
